Strata inks Chinese PV deal
11/12/2013
US outfit Strata Solar has agreed to buy 160MW of solar panels from Chinese manufacturer BYD.
The Chapel Hill, North Carolina developer and BYD also will work together to implement BYD’s battery technology into a series of utility farm projects to maximize production and efficiencies.
The panel deal represents more than a third of Strata’s scheduled construction work for 2014.
“BYD’s competitive advantage in battery technology gives us a strong strategic position, allowing us to offer a unique total energy solution,” said BYD chairman Chuanfu Wang.
Strata will complete nearly 200MW of solar across 30 installations in 2013. The company expects to add 300MW to 400MW in 2014 and has a pipeline of 1.5GW.
